ELIOT B. SYKES
Originally from northeastern Massachusetts, Eliot called Salt Lake City home from 2004-2023, before returning home again. Eliot identifies as African in America and uses he/him/his pronouns. He is licensed to practice in Massachusetts and Utah.
Eliot focuses on supporting Black, Indigenous, POC, and LGBTQ+ children, teens, and adults who are dealing with issues related to identity-based harm, trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. He believes that when we explore and begin to connect our thoughts, emotions, and sensorimotor experiences, our healing journey begins. Waypoints in our journey include feeling safe in our own bodies, communicating our needs to ourselves and others, and establishing daily practices that cultivate waypoint finding.
Eliot is grounded by an Africentric perspective and a critical multicultural feminist approach. He utilizes motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral and body-based psychotherapeutic modalities when partnering with people on their healing journeys.
Eliot understands the decision to enter into a therapeutic relationship is not something to be taken lightly. He invites you to reach out for a 15-20 minute free consultation to understand if he is a good fit for you.
