ELIOT B. SYKES
Licensed Therapist & Consultant
Originally from northeastern Massachusetts, Eliot has called Salt Lake City home since the fall of 2004. Eliot identifies as Black/African American and uses he/him/his pronouns.
Eliot focuses on supporting Black, Indigenous, POC, and LGBTQ+ children, teens, and adults who are dealing with issues related to trauma, depression, anxiety, adoption, and substance abuse. He believes that when we explore and begin to connect our thoughts, emotions, and sensorimotor experiences, we can understand what it is like to feel safe in our own bodies, and engage in problem solving and intentional decision making.
Eliot is grounded by an Africentric perspective and a critical multicultural feminist approach. He utilizes motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral and body-based psychotherapeutic modalities when partnering with people on their healing journeys.
Eliot understands the decision to enter into a therapeutic relationship is not something to be taken lightly. He invites you to reach out for a 15-20 minute free consultation to understand if he is a good fit for you.
